Mom's Learning How To Sew

Hey guys! Mom is learning how to sew!!!! She got a Viking Sewing Machine today. She gets unlimited lessons with her machine and she is really excited about learning. If any of you have any experience in sewing, please comment. If you have some recommended books about learning how to sew that would be great. The reason she wants to learn how to sew is because we can't fine jeans that fit Tarenne so she is going to learn how to hem her jeans. Thanks for your comments!!!

Tarenne's Delicious Ice Cream!

This is from about 3 months ago but I thought you would really like this. Here is Tarenne's ice cream that she made by her self. She used baby formula, water, milk and then put it in the freezer. How yummy does that sound?! Well she got it out the next day and tried to eat it. It was so frozen she could not even get her spoon close to getting a scoop. Here are some pictures.

TRY TO AVOID USING THIS RECIPE!

Disaster 1... 2... 3... 4...

When Mom was in Nashville the girls had accidentally knocked Tarenne's painting off of the wall. Marley came out and said "Disaster 1..." Then a minute later she said "Disaster 2" Then ran back in. She said it all the way to nine. I was laughing really hard because Marley had a really nervous look on her face. When she came out to say Disaster 9, Tarenne and Emery came running out trying to get Marley back in the room. Then Chantal got curious about what they were doing so she went upstairs to see. The girls had glue and tape all over the wall where they had tried to hang the picture back up. Obviously it had not worked. The girls were holding up the picture and laughing very nervously. Chantal helped them get all of the tape and glue off the walls. The didn't know that all you had to do to get it back up was to hang it on the hook. Whoops!

Low Muscle Tone, Just as Capable!

Today we were doing a craft and I was the teacher while Mom worked. We were doing the beads that you put on the different shape peg boards and then iron it. It was harder for Tarenne since she has Down Syndrome which means she has low muscle tone. so as the was putting the beads on the tiny little pegs she got half way through and said "This is to hard! I need help!" Then ran to Mom. Mom came out and asked me to help Tarenne and sit by her. So I told Tarenne that if any of her beads knocked over she could tell me and I would fix them because that was what she was getting frustrated about. She continued working and did great. Then Emery and her started fighting over the bead storing box. Tarenne got it but when she pulled it away from Emery she knocked over a bunch of the tiny beads on hers which she had worked hard on. She then got very frustrated and she said "I am done!!!" I finished hers up for her but then thought about how Emery had to have help too. I then thought about how patient Tarenne was because it was so hard for her, even though it is hard for us it was at least 5 times harder for her. She followed through a lot longer then I could have if it was that hard for me. Tarenne is so precious and I thought about how hard it was for her at school when her class did things like that. I love her so much and she has so much perseverance. I think that every body in the world needs to think harder about how hard it is for kids with disabilities to do things like that and how it is so easy for us. I am very blessed to have Tarenne in my life because she teaches me so much. There are so many blessing in Tarenne.

Card Signing= Trouble

Just a little bit ago I was trying to get all of my sisters to sign a card that I was writing to my next door neighbor. I was making a card because she had given us really pretty jewelry for Christmas presents, that's not the point though. It was Marley's turn to sign and we barley had any room because The card was not that big. She made a humongous M. I told her that that was too big and she needed to write smaller. She argued with "No it is not to big it is good." "No Marley it is not." I replied back. I also said that I would have to sign it for her if she threw a temper tantrum like she was at the point, scowling at me and swatting at me she ran to go tell Mom. I was so aggravated. Then she told Mom not all of the story. Right now I actually can hear her saying "Emery's being mean to me!!!!!". lol So next Mom told me that's how she writes because she is a Kindergartner. She signed it really big at the top. Then she goes "Come on girls lets go!!!! Come on Tarenne and Emery." I said "Wait Em. You still have to sign. "NO I DO NOT!!!!" Emery yelled. Then I said "Emery please." and she goes " Okay." very sweetly. I laughed about that while she signed. Marley walked away with just Tarenne to go continue to play Puppy Dogs. I laughed about how different all of their responses were and how sweet Tarenne just signed it not saying a word and smiling.

My sisters! How different they all are! They still are sweet though. Marley can have a little tantrum and tell but she still is sweet too. :o)

Tarenne

These are some things about Tarenne that are very special.

  • Forgiving. Tarenne is always forgiving to other people other than me sometimes. But of course I am her sister so you can't expect her to be.
  • Sweet. Tarenne is sweet almost all the time except when she wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. Then she will be grumpy to everyone including my best friend who she absolutely LOVES!
  • Hilarious. Tarenne is hilarious! Tarenne's favorite thing to say is "Boomah Boomah!" Then she bursts out laughing at her self! She cracks her self up! By the way Boomah is just a word she made up!
  • Cute. Tarenne is cute. She always has her own taste in style. She will come out in a light pink skirt and a hot pink shirt that are two TOTALLY different styles and we will go "Tarenne that does not match." And she will say "Yes it does it's pink!" And she won't give up unless Mom gives in. Which she usually does!
  • Unique. Tarenne is unique just like every other person but she has something that makes her have a different unique from other people. She has Down Syndrome. She also is her own person. She likes her self. She knows she's pretty, sweet, beautiful, and smart. She knows she's funny, special, cute, nice, and best of all she knows she's her. She won't try to be a different, better person than she is. She knows there's no reason to change because she is good enough already. And so are you and me. We are how God made us. And he made us just how he wanted us to be. That's why Tarenne is special. So we should try being like her and knowing we are just how God wants us to be. Maybe we'll do something wrong but God will forgive us. It's my dream for all of us to know what Tarenne knows. That we are how we are and we can't change.

I hope you realize what a special kid Tarenne is. You really should take my advise at being yourself.
